By “talk to your kids” I mean, come up with code words to use so you don’t have to use the real word.
You know, so you can avoid the very funny and somewhat embarrassing experience I had.
Imagine, you have a 10-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter.
You are strolling around the aisles at your favorite big-box-craft store.
Now, that’s an important element to the story because you can picture what the rest of the shopping clientele is like.
So you’re strolling the aisles and you’re discussing something random with your kids.
You make the mistake of referring to something as “you know, the M word.”
Well, if you didn’t take the time at home to talk to your kids and clarify what the “M-word” is then you might just have a clueless 10-year-old say loudly
You mean, MASTURBATE
Here’s the thing, I don’t even remember what we were discussing.
I know it sure as hell wasn’t masturbate.
Or even anything close to masturbate.
It might have been something as dumb as McDonald’s but I didn’t want to say McDonald’s because then the 7-year-old would go on about how she wants McDonald’s (and wouldn’t that be embarrassing).
So for your own sanity – take the time to clarify what all of the “words” are that you will not say out loud in public.
Parenting tip: Talk to your kids early about sensitive subjects.
ps. If anybody is familiar with SEO, just know that I am going to try to not SEO this for the word Masturbate. Because I’m pretty sure if you are googling Masturbate then you don’t want to come to my website. Just to be sure, I am going to put a very un-masturbate-ish photo at the top of this post.
