In regards to American Soldier, Toby Keith states, “I get accused of banging the war drum by the media – I’m all for peace, but from time to time we have no choice but to fight for our freedom. So I support our troops. They’re working people – they get up every day and put their boots on and go to work; every day they defend our country overseas. But in this song, you don’t realize the working people I’m singing about are soldiers until the end.”
